We did it again. Yesterday we shipped 700 comfort scarves to 17 shelters (a small shipping for Handmade). We plan a repeat performance in March. In April, we will have a huge shipping (like in January) of almost 2,000 scarves. Can we do it all? YES WE CAN! And here's the reasons why we can.
We have a fabulous and dedicated team behind our efforts. I mention this time and again, but it's always true. Our scarf projects includes dedicated
Yarn donors
Box openers
Yarn winders
Novelty yarn cutters
Kit makers
Knitters
Crocheters
Fringe makers
Gift tag makers
Hole punchers
Wrappers
Shippers
$$$ donors
Website maintainers
Facebook posters
Other activities not included
Really, it takes everyone! No job is too small or insignificant. We need you all.
We want to have 2,000 scarves in time to ship in April for Mother's Day, a very meaningful day at the shelters, where so many of the "mothers" have fled their homes and are trying to start new lives, without violence. Receiving one of our scarves means a lot to these women. We have a big responsibility. We're counting on you to come through for them. One of our dedicated volunteers wrote to me today: "I wish I could knit twice as fast." I wrote back to her that I feel exactly the same way. I am pulled in every direction. I want to knit scarves, I want to test hat patterns (I still want to make items for the kids at the shelters. They also arrive at the shelters with nothing from their home. They need what we can make. If only there was more time!), I want to make kits, I want to get more volunteers, I want to try to get enough money for a workshop for Handmade; there's just too much to do and too little time. If we pool our time, we get more done. And that's the key to Handmade's success. Your time, plus mine, and the time of all our volunteers, means we get a lot done.
Thanks. Keep up the good work.
Love,
Leslye
