DIAGONAL COMFORT SCARF With Novelty Yarn
|
What you need:
• Size 14 needles • About 300 feet of solid soft 4-ply yarn (Yarn A) • About 250 feet of variegated sport-weight yarn (Yarn B) • 2 mini balls of fun fur or other novelty yarn, each 25 feet
Directions:
Holding Yarn A and one mini ball of novelty yarn together, cast on** 12 stitches. If you want a wider scarf, cast on 14 stitches, but then you will need more yarn.
Row 1. Knit first stitch. Then knit in front and back of the next stitch (increase one). Knit across to the last 3 stitches. Knit 2 together, knit the last stitch.
Row 2. Knit every stitch.
Continue in this manner until you have used up all the fun fur. (stop the fun fur at the end of a row, not in the middle). Attach the variegated sport-weight yarn.
Continue knitting with Yarn A and Yarn B in the pattern until the scarf measures 60 inches less what the first Yarn A/novelty combo measured. Stop Yarn B at the end of a row (not in the middle). Attach the second mini ball of novelty yarn.
Continue until you have just enough Yarn A/novelty yarn to cast off. Cast off. Weave in ends.
Please sign the Handmade tag with your first name and attach it to your scarf.
**Many knitters find that the cable cast on works particularly well for scarves. It is very firm and it looks just like the cast off. I think you will like it too. Click here to see a video showing how easy it is to do. |
